Neighborhood Centers Inc. Baker Ripley Summer Teen Program, June to August 2011
This video, entitled I’ve Learned, was created by teenagers in Houston’s Gulfton community who participated in Houston Grand Opera’s Summer Teen Program at Neighborhood Centers Inc. Baker Ripley from June to August 2011. The goal of the project was to promote self-expression about community through art.
The teenagers edited dozens of hours of footage into a 21-minute film documenting their experiences and what they learned about themselves and their community. I’ve Learned is the concluding chapter of the film.
Programs like this, for community members of all ages, will be a component of HGO’s Home and Place initiative, both at Baker Ripley and at other Neighborhood Centers Inc. locations.
