The first commissioned work of Song of Houston, The Refuge, brought together stories from Houston's Mexican, Central American, Indian, Pakistani, Soviet-era Jewish, African and Vietnamese communities in an ambitious and historic new work. READ SOME OF THE STORIES
Composed by Christopher Theofanidis with a libretto by Leah Lax, The Refuge tells the stories of extraordinary individual journeys to - and in - Houston. The Refuge is not only a song of Houston; it is a portrait of contemporary America, and a celebration of the experiences that unite us all. SEE PHOTOS
